Creating a Project

A project is the container for one piece of work: its source documents, scope, analysis and deliverables. Here's how to create one and load it with sources.

Your first project

The first time you sign in, LithicBlue walks you through a first check instead of asking you to set up a project:

  1. Add your deliverable. Your deliverable is the piece of work you're producing: a client report, a board deck, a strategy memo. Upload it as a .pdf, .pptx or .docx file.
  2. Add your sources. These are the evidence your deliverable is built on: data, interview notes, research, prior reports. Every claim in your deliverable is checked against them. You can go ahead without sources and add them later, but until you do, your claims can't be checked against your own evidence.
  3. Hear back by email. LithicBlue finds each claim in your deliverable and checks it against your sources. If your sources are still being processed, the check waits for them and the deliverable shows that it's waiting. When the check is finished you get an email saying how many claims need a look, with a link straight to your deliverable.

The project is created for you and named after your deliverable. You can rename it, add more sources or set its scope at any time.

Create another project

Open the project switcher at the top of the left sidebar and click New Project. The New Project dialog offers two ways to start:

  • Manual Entry: fill in a Project Name (required) and, optionally, a Client Name and Description, then click Create Project.
  • Quick Start: drag in a proposal or scope-of-work document (PDF, DOCX or TXT) and LithicBlue extracts the client, description and an initial scope from it automatically.

Once created, you land on the project overview.

Add source documents

Go to Files in the sidebar. This is where every source document for the project lives. You have two ways to bring documents in.

Upload directly

  1. Drag files onto the upload area (Drag & drop files here) or click Choose Files to browse.
  2. Supported types include PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, CSV, HTML, MD, RTF, meeting transcripts (.vtt, e.g. exported from Microsoft Teams) and common image formats.
  3. Files appear in the list as source files, ready for analysis.

Connect a cloud folder

To keep your documents where your firm already manages them, connect a folder instead of uploading. On the Files page, click Connect a SharePoint folder or Connect a Google Drive folder, pick the folder, and LithicBlue mirrors it and keeps it in sync. A banner then shows Files managed in SharePoint / Files managed in Google Drive.

Set the integration up first

Connecting a cloud folder requires a one-time admin setup for your organisation. See Google Drive and SharePoint & OneDrive.

What happens next

As documents land, LithicBlue reads them and builds the project knowledge base. From there you can scope the work and check progress against scope, then build and review deliverables.

Adding a deliverable

To start a presentation or PDF, use New deliverable on the Files toolbar to upload a .pptx, .pdf or .docx file directly as a deliverable. Files vs deliverables: Files are your sources; deliverables are what you produce.
